West Suffolk Voluntary Association for the Blind

Volunteers and Volunteering

Volunteer to work with us! You will find it a rewarding experience as well as being helpful to the visually impaired people in our area.

We understand that volunteers come from all walks of life, male and female, young and old, in and out of work. What you have in common, is a desire and willingness to help and the capacity to provide a different dimension to the services we offer. It is essential that we recognise all volunteers’ strengths and interests, not fitting round pegs into square holes, or using the volunteer as a cheap alternative to a paid member of staff, but someone to enhance the service given by WSVAB. We are always open to suggestions and ideas from our volunteers

Volunteer doing community support work

The Association has arranged liability insurance to cover all volunteers and provides appropriate training to equip volunteers for the various tasks undertaken.

Our primary aim is to enable all visually impaired people in West Suffolk to live full, active and independent lives. We respect each individual’s dignity and rights, irrespective of race, gender, creed, age, disability or sexual orientation.
